The News in Greene County, Rippey

Rippey sure did give the people a good time last Friday evening and all day Saturday.    On Friday evening there was a band concert which was enjoyed very much by all, but the entertainment of Saturday excelled any ever put on in Rippey.

In the morning the Corn Exhibit took all the time. Although we didn't inquire who won all the prizes we heard that Sam McDowell captured the prize for the best ten ears of white corn; Lester Pennington took 1st prize for the best ten ears of corn in the boys' contest and Miles Pennington captured the prize for the Sweepstakes ear.

Many good talks on corn were given by great men of the state which were very much enjoyed by all.

In the afternoon the ball game between Rippey and Grand Junction was a walkaway for Rippey. Fisher pitching for Rippey held the Grand Junction players down but the Grand Junction pitcher could not stop the heavy hitting Rippey players. The final score was 13 to 3 in favor of Rippey.

The speech given by John Dennison from a Democratic standpoint was very much enjoyed by all.

In the evening the wrestling match drew a very large crowd. Walter Underwood got the first two straight falls from Anderson, the Des Moines wrestler.

The speech given by Harding was also one of the great things of the day and last of all we must give a lot of credit to the Rippey Booster Band for furnishing music throughout the day.
