Rippey Lions Club Park Improvement Project Approved by Rippey City Council, July 1, 2013

The Rippey City Council approved the Lions Club improving the Osborn Park at their regular meeting on July 1, 2013.

The City of Rippey Council approved the Lions Club removing the East sidewalk where the swing-set is located at the City Park.  Saturday, July 20 at 9:00 a. m. there will be a work day to paint/repair playground equipment, sidewalk removal, peat gravel placement, ground leveling, etc.  Lunch will be furnished at the church for the volunteers.  This is a community project sponsored by the Lions Club with support from the city council.  All are welcome to join in this improvement project for Rippey.

July 20, 2013, The Rippey Lions Club members began sprucing up Osborn Park just south of Main Street with many work days to follow. The project will include spreading pea gravel around all of the play equipment, repairing equipment and a picnic table, painting the teeter totter and merry-go-round, removing the sand box. Before the work began, Rick Liebich measured and marked the areas for the pea gravel. Keith Devilbiss arranged for pea gravel which was donated and delivered by Hamilton Redi-Mix, Jefferson. Dan Brubaker dug around the slide and climbing structure with his backhoe. Keith Devilbiss and Dale Hanaman piloted Bobcats to deliver the pea gravel and haul the dirt away.  Roy Bardole and Sons donated the use of their Bobcat for the day.  Others shoveling and painting were Randy Vodenik, David Wells, Deb Vodenik, Nancy Hanaman.  Also helping was John Mills, a neighbor to the park.  The food for one of the work days was provided by the Rippey United Methodist Ladies Aid. Thanks to all who have been part of this community project.  Volunteers are always welcome, so when you see work activity at the park, please feel free to help or contact a Lions Club member for more information.
