Services for Adults

We offer a wide selection of fiction, nonfiction, and large print, and large print western novels. Our library participates in Bridges, an ebook platform. Ask your librarian how to enroll to read ebooks through your public library. We carry many magazines and cookbooks. We have a variety of movies. We encourage adults to participate in summer and winter reading programs.

Rippey Book Club

The Rippey Public Library hosts a book club every couple months. We try to pick books that are being talked about or books to compliment the season. In November, we will discuss the book Theo of Golden by Allen Levi. Typically, the library has success borrowing several copies of our pick from other Iowa libraries for our book club. This book, however, is so new and popular that is continually checked out at other libraries! Rippey has one copy that we are so happy to check out to our patrons. If you do not want to wait for a copy, consider purchasing a copy from a local book store: Century Farms Books and Brews in Perry or Ope! and Fable in Jefferson.

Libby Reads - Global Book Club

Libby Reads is a global book club that any Rippey library patron can participate in for free with an e-reading app called Libby. To access Libby, all you need is a device (tablet, e-reader, smart phone) and a library card! Ask you librarian for help accessing Libby if you have questions. This winter, the book Secrets of the Broken House by Taryn Souders will be available on Libby with no holds or wait time from November 26 - December 10.
