Services for Adults

We offer a wide selection of fiction, nonfiction, and large print, and large print western novels. Our library participates in Bridges, an ebook platform. Ask your librarian how to enroll to read ebooks through your public library. We carry many magazines and cookbooks. We have a variety of movies. We encourage adults to participate in summer and winter reading programs.

We also offer adult and all-age events. Look for coffee hour at the library, crafts, and more! Check out our calendar and connect with us on Facebook for more information.

Culture Cafe - May 12 in Rippey

Enjoy a free stay-cation filled with culture cafés, live “reading” programs, and more this year when you travel “Around the World in Greene County”! All six public libraries will host different multicultural events thanks to a grant from the Greene County Community Foundation. Simply pick up an event passport at your local library to start your adventure! Attend programs to receive a stamp… and attend eight programs throughout 2026 to enter a county-wide prize drawing. Our first program is a Culture Café & Open House at the Rippey Public Library. Join us on Tuesday, May 12 from 6 – 8 PM for informal conversations about culture and how it connects us, led by Multicultural Family Resource Center Director Sara Huddleston. Light refreshments will be served. Get there early from 5 – 6 PM to meet the new Rippey library director and see the new multicultural materials now available for checkout!

Summer Reading

Our library is hosting Summer Reading for library patrons of all ages in June and July. To participate in Summer Reading, fill out reading tickets to record the days during which you read. When a reading ticket is filled up, you can submit it into a prize drawing at the library. You can also fill out special tickets for participating in various library events. Stop in the library to get your reading tickets and start participating! There will be one prize drawing held for June, and one for July. Make sure to turn in your tickets by June 30 and July 31!

Author Zooms in June

In June, join our library for a series of Zoom meetings with authors as part of the state's All Iowa Reads program. This is a unique opportunity for the state to read books and discuss altogether. Adults are welcome to attend any author Zoom meetings, regardless of the target audience of the books.

  • Tuesday, June 9, 1:30-2:30 pm - Zoom with Kate Messner, author of The Trouble With Heroes (upper elementary/tween book)
  • Tuesday, June 16, 6:30-7:30 pm - Zoom with Allen Eskens, author of The Quiet Librarian (adult book)
  • Wednesday, June 24, 3:00-4:00 pm - Zoom with T.L. Simpson, author of Strong Like You (teen book)
